Certified for Canadian Federal & Provincial Incentives
Pixel Eye Pictures is structured to support productions accessing Canadian tax credit programs. Our accounting infrastructure is built to track, document, and report eligible expenditures across all applicable incentive streams.
| Authority | Program | Description |
|---|---|---|
| FederalCAVCO / CRA | CAVCO Certification Federal Production Tax Credits |
CAVCO certifies eligibility for federal production tax credits, which then support claims with CRA. The applicable program — CPTC or PSTC — depends on production ownership and type. These are separate programs and cannot be assumed to stack. |
| Creative BCProvincial | PSTC Production Services Tax Credit Basic 36% — for PP on or after Dec 31, 2024 |
Claimed by the accredited production corporation. Components: Basic 36%, Regional Bonus 6%, Distant Location Bonus 6%, DAVE Bonus 16%, Major Production Bonus 2%. Pixel Eye supports BC labour structuring, planning, and documentation to help productions maximise eligible expenditures. |
| Creative BCProvincial | DAVE Digital Animation & Visual Effects Bonus 16% of eligible BC labour |
16% bonus on eligible BC labour directly attributable to digital animation, VFX, and post-production. Applies under both PSTC and FIBC programs. Claimed by the accredited production corporation. |
| Creative BCProvincial | FIBC Film Incentive BC Basic 40% — for PP on or after Jan 1, 2025 |
Domestic Canadian-owned productions. Basic rate of 40% for productions commencing principal photography on or after January 1, 2025. The DAVE 16% bonus applies here as well. Claimed by the accredited production corporation. |
| BC Min. of Finance / CRAFederal & Provincial | SR&ED Scientific Research & Experimental Development |
Eligible R&D activities — including VFX pipeline development, proprietary tooling, and emerging technology — may qualify for SR&ED credits through CRA. BC maintains its own SR&ED credit with specific rules. Qualification requires meeting SR&ED tests; pipeline or VFX work does not automatically qualify. Confirm eligibility with tax counsel. |
| BC Min. of Finance / CRAProvincial | IDMTC Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit 25% on wages on or after Sept 1, 2025 |
25% of eligible BC salary and wages incurred on or after September 1, 2025 (17.5% for wages before that date). Registration with BC Ministry of Finance; claim filed with CRA. Applies to qualifying interactive digital media products with an interactive component. |
Important: Credits are claimed by the accredited production corporation. Pixel Eye Pictures supports planning, documentation, and BC labour structuring — vendors do not claim these credits directly.
BC Budget 2026: Proposed changes include removing pre-certification requirements for certain start dates, extending the filing deadline to 36 months, and increasing the accreditation certificate fee to $19,000 for applications received on or after March 1, 2026.
Rules and rates change. Confirm eligibility and current rates with your production accountant or tax counsel.
